La normativa del 5 per mille che dà la possibilità al contribuente, appunto, di destinare una quota pari a 5 per mille dell'imposta sul reddito delle persone fisiche a enti non profit, nasce nel 2006, a titolo sperimentale.
La Finanziaria 2010, anche per quest’anno, prevede la possibilità per ogni contribuente di destinare il 5 per mille delle proprie imposte solo ad associazioni di volontariato e non lucrative di utilità sociale, associazioni e fondazioni di promozione sociale, enti di ricerca scientifica, universitaria e sanitaria, comuni e associazioni sportive dilettantistiche.
